A coarse filter is used to remove impurities from the working environment. The design assumes the presence of a filter mesh, which retains diverse debris, from sand to stones. Depending on the size of the grid cells, it is possible to filter out smaller (silt, rust) or large (metal impurities, sewage contents) particles. The design may also contain a seal, a drain hole with a valve, a magnet for better cleaning.

Among the coarse water filters there is a separate variety - mud collectors. These are steel products (usually cylindrical), in which a grid with cells of different sizes is installed. Mud pans are mesh, magnetic and gravitational, but they all perform the same task - they clean the working stream from mechanical and organic particles of large diameter.

Features of sediment filters

Coarse filters are mounted on the line using threads or flanges. They can work in 3 modes:

  • filter the workbench and send clean to the desired fork;
  • to flush the flow moving in the opposite direction, which then goes to the sewer;
  • flush the flow moving through the filter medium from top to bottom.

  • A coarse water filter improves the quality of the working environment, and also protects equipment from damage due to dirt, plaque or rust. It is especially important to use it on sensitive equipment like water meters or valves. However, the scope of sediment filters is not limited.   • How can a mechanical filter be classified

    According to the type of connection, the coarse filter for water can be flanged or threaded. Flanged products are mounted through a flange on the pipeline system, threaded products - through an internal thread. There is no difference in technical specifications.

    According to the body material, there are such filters for coarse water purification:

    1. Brass. Inexpensive option with limited temperature and pressure levels. Suitable for cold water and gas pipelines.
    2. Cast iron. Wear-resistant products with anti-corrosion properties. Due to their high weight, they are more often used in industrial pipeline networks.
    3. Steel. Reasonable value for money. Steel water filters on the pipe have a wide scope of operation, from housing and communal services to factories and factories, they are inexpensive, but rarely able to last more than 25 years due to rust.
    4. Stainless steel. The most durable, impact-resistant and reliable products that are not subject to corrosion, acids, alkalis. Suitable for installation on highways with aggressive working environment.
