Flanges
UKSPAR steel flange range
The category includes steel flanges for industrial and engineering systems, including flat stainless steel versions according to DIN and GOST for PN10/PN16, as well as blind models. The tightness determines the entire assembly, including the gasket and fastening.
If a steel weld-on flange is needed for a new pipeline or to replace an existing part, the manager should be provided with the markings of the old product or drawings. This shortens the approval process and protects against errors between dimensional systems.
How to choose a flange by diameter and pressure
The nominal diameter must match the pipe and associated equipment, but DN is not equal to the measured outside diameter in millimeters. For example, the query flange steel du 100 does not yet specify the standard, PN, surface type, material, and bolt hole location.
For selection you need to know:
- DN and actual pipe dimensions;
- working and design pressure and temperature;
- standard and type of connecting surface;
- environment, material and corrosive conditions;
- quantity, diameter and strength class of fasteners.
Pressure is always checked together with temperature: the permissible load depends on the material and the standard table.
Flange types: flat, welded, collared
Main types:
- The flat flange is pushed onto the pipe and welded using the prescribed technology.
- The collar is butt-welded: the conical neck transfers the load more smoothly and is used in critical modes.
- A blind flange closes the end of a line or fitting and provides access for maintenance.
The design is selected based on the project, parameters, and welding technology. The construction dimensions of the assembly are also preserved for repairs.
Differences in designs and scope of use
Flat models are often used in water supply, heating and process networks with moderate parameters. Collared ones are appropriate for higher loads, temperature cycles or fatigue strength requirements. Blind ones are needed for section cut-off, testing or backup connections. The final suitability is confirmed by the passport and the project.
Flange manufacturing materials
The material affects strength, weldability, corrosion resistance and permissible pressure-temperature pair. Products of the same DN are not always interchangeable. The pipe, gasket and bolts are also taken into account.
Carbon and stainless steel
Carbon steel is economical and common in heating and industrial networks, provided that it is properly protected against corrosion. Stainless steel is suitable for wet, corrosive or hygienic processes, but the specific grade must be checked against the chemical composition of the environment.
Standards and requirements for flanges (GOST, DSTU, DIN)
The standard specifies geometry, materials, markings, tolerances and ratings. Products according to GOST, DSTU, DIN or another system cannot be joined just because they have the same DN. They may differ:
- diameter of the circle of holes and their number;
- thickness and sealing surface.
ASME B16.5, for example, separately covers pressure-temperature ratings, materials, dimensions, marking, and testing.
For replacement, send a photo of the marking and dimensions, and for the project, a regulatory specification.
Areas of application of flange connections
Flanges are used in water supply, heating, heat stations, pumping stations, on steam and technological lines. The detachable unit is convenient near the fittings and equipment that needs to be serviced. For gas, steam, aggressive or explosive environments, the requirements are determined by the relevant standards and technical documentation.
Buy steel flanges with delivery across Ukraine
To buy flanges without re-ordering, please provide DN, PN, standard, material, type and quantity. UKSPAR will help you compare parameters, check availability and place an order with delivery across Ukraine.
Send a specification or photo of an existing unit and the manager will clarify compatibility and suggest available positions.
