    The main purpose of valves is to completely block or regulate the flow of the working medium (water, coolant, steam).
    Brass fittings are characterized by high corrosion resistance, the ability to operate in a wide temperature range (from -20 °C to +180 °C) and long service life.

    Types of brass fittings in plumbing systems

    Various types of products are used to complete pipelines, each of which has its own purpose:

    • Ball valves — the most popular type of shut-off valve. The working element (ball) rotates on 90°, providing quick flow shut-off. Available in coupling (threaded) versions, as well as in versions with an "American" (quick-release connection).
    • Valves (shutoff valves) — unlike taps, they are designed not only for shut-off, but also for precise regulation of fluid flow. Most often used in heating systems.
    • Gate valves — used mainly on main lines (diameter from DN 40–50) for reliable flow shut-off at high operating pressures.
    • Connecting elements ("Americans") — straight and angled assemblies that allow for quick assembly/disassembly of system sections and changing the direction of the pipeline.

    • Resource: With proper selection and operation, the service life is 10–20 years or to 50,000 cycles «"open-closed".
    • Stability: The material withstands vibration loads and does not lose its properties under the influence of aggressive impurities in the coolant.

    Installation and operating rules

    To ensure maximum service life, it is recommended to follow the installation technology and care rules:

    1. Professional installation: The process includes thread preparation, use of seals (fum tape or sealants), pressing the system and final tightness testing.
    2. Operating mode: Ball valves should only be in their extreme positions - «"fully open"» or «"completely closed"». Using them in an intermediate state leads to premature wear of the seals.
    3. Prevention: It is recommended to turn the handle every 6 months to prevent jamming due to salt and scale deposits.

    How to choose quality brass fittings?

    When buying, pay attention to the following criteria:

    • Product weight: A quality brass faucet cannot be too light (this is a sign of thin walls or the use of silumin).
    • Marking: Check the settings DN (notional diameter) and PN (working pressure).
    • Coating quality: The surface must be smooth, without cracks or swelling.
