Connection of pipelines

The UKSPAR catalog presents cast iron elements for installation and repair of engineering networks. They help to make reliable connections of pipelines, change the direction or diameter of the line, arrange branches and connect fittings.

    For selection, you need to know the material and outer diameter of the pipe, DN, working medium, pressure and connection type.
    Product cards contain available versions and prices, so you can pre-form a kit for a new unit or repair of an existing network. If the actual parameters of the old pipe differ from the nominal, its diameter should be measured directly at the site.

    How to choose cast iron threaded fittings

    The query "threaded cast iron fittings" refers to a separate group of parts that are connected using internal or external threads. These include:

    • nipple;
    • driving together;
    • futorka;
    • locknut and threaded coupling.

    This UKSPAR category mainly includes flange and universal connecting elements, so they are selected not by thread size in inches, but by DN, the actual outer diameter of the pipe, pressure and standard of the corresponding flange.
    For steel or cast iron pipes, you can choose a universal coupling or flange adapter with the required clamping range. For the polymer section, a PE/PVC adapter is intended, and for changing the nominal passage, a reducing adapter or flange is used. The compatibility of the seal with the working medium and temperature is also checked.

    Main types of connecting elements

    The universal coupling connects straight pipe ends within a specified diameter range. The flange adapter provides a transition from a smooth end to a fitting, and the dismantling insert facilitates installation and removal of equipment.
    A tee is used to branch the network, and a cross is used for four directions. An elbow, also called a corner or a branch, changes the direction of the route. Reducing elements connect different DNs, and a flanged fire stand is used to connect a hydrant.

    Materials and coatings

    The housings of the presented products use EN-GJS500-7, a high-strength spheroidal graphite cast iron. It should not be automatically identified with the material that is called ductile iron in technical terminology: the exact grade should be checked against the specification.
    The protective coating reduces the effect of moisture. Its type, the presence of galvanization of the fasteners, the material of the bolts and the seal depend on the model and are checked in the passport. The correctly selected seal and uniform tightening of the fasteners determine the tightness of the assembly.

    Advantages of cast iron threaded fittings

    Classic cast iron fittings with threaded connection are convenient for small diameter pipelines: they do not require welding and allow you to assemble detachable units. For main and utility networks, flanged or universal parts from this page are often more appropriate. Their advantages:

    • sturdy body;
    • convenient connection of fittings;
    • It is possible to repair a separate section without replacing the entire pipeline.

    Universal components cover a defined range of outer diameters. During installation, the pipes must be aligned and the contact surfaces cleaned.

    Areas of application of fittings

    Cast iron flanged and universal elements are used in water supply networks, pumping stations, treatment plants, industrial pipelines and fire extinguishing systems. They are needed for branches, replacement of fittings, repairs and connection of metal lines to PE or PVC pipes.
    The possibility of use in heating systems or for gas is determined not only by PN. It is necessary to check the temperature, compatibility of materials and seals, tolerances and purpose of the model. Send UKSPAR specialists the parameters of the unit or the project specification to order compatible elements without unnecessary adapters and alterations.
