Industrial fittings

Industrial pipeline valves are a set of technical devices integrated into pipeline systems to control the parameters of working environments. The main functions are complete shut-off (cut-off), start-up, distribution, and throttling (regulation) of the flow.

The choice of a specific model (article) and housing material is based on the calculated system parameters: operating pressure, temperature regime, and physicochemical properties of the medium (water, steam, natural gas, petroleum products, aggressive chemical compounds).

    Classification and design types

To ensure the tightness and durability of engineering networks, the following types of fittings are used:

    • Latches (parallel, wedge): They are mainly used as shut-off valves on large diameter pipelines (DN 50–1200+). Withstand high pressure (PN 16–40 and above) and have a minimum coefficient of hydraulic resistance.
    • Ball valves: Designed for rapid flow shut-off. Provide the highest tightness class "A"« and reliable operation over a wide temperature range.
    • Shut-off valves: Optimal for systems with high requirements for the tightness of the valve assembly. Effective when working with steam and aggressive media.
    • Disc valves (butterfly type): Compact and cost-effective solutions for regulating and shutting off flows in water supply and fire extinguishing systems.

    Technical specifications and regulations

The quality and operational safety of valves are determined by compliance with standards DSTU EN 12266-1 / ISO 5208 (for export - API 598, ASME B16.34).Key selection parameters:

    1. Nominal diameter (DN): internal diameter of the passage in millimeters.
    2. Nominal pressure (PN): maximum overpressure at a temperature of $20$ °C.

Note: As the operating temperature increases, the allowable pressure decreases according to the "Pressure-Temperature" graph.

    1. Drive type: manual (flywheel, lever, gearbox), electric, pneumatic or hydraulic.
    2. Tightness class: according to DSTU (from A to D), where А — complete absence of visible leaks.

    Material performance by application areas

    Body material Scope of application
Cast iron (gray/high-strength) Housing and communal services, water utilities, irrigation systems.
Steel (carbon, alloy) Energy, oil and gas industry, high pressure.
Stainless steel Food, pharmaceutical and chemical industries.
Non-ferrous metals and polymers Specific conditions, corrosion resistance.

    Operation and service

To prevent accidents and extend the service life of the equipment, the following rules must be observed:

    1. Operating mode: Strict adherence to the passport values of pressure and temperature.
    2. Scheduled maintenance: Technical inspection every 6–12 months (checking seals, lubricating moving parts).
    3. Installation standards: Installation on straight sections without mechanical stresses and flange distortions.

Importantly: It is prohibited to use the fittings as a supporting structure for the pipeline, as well as to operate them in the presence of extraneous noise or vibrations.
