UKSPAR range of electrically operated butterfly valves
UKSPAR offers electric rotary valves, including 380 V versions and the flanged eccentric model Fig. P101-I PN10. The range includes solutions for remote shut-off and pipeline automation. The final voltage, control and material parameters are checked in the product card.Butterfly shutter Flanged with electric drive is chosen for a full flange scheme. Interflange and flanged housings have different sizes and fastenings.
How to choose an electric drive for a shutter
The drive is selected based on the maximum shutter torque with the manufacturer's safety factor. The supply voltage and control scheme must match the object. Also take into account:
- required output torque and 90° angle;
- mode: open/closed or modulating;
- power, control and feedback signals;
- connecting flange and stem shape;
- IP, temperature, corrosion and explosion protection as required.
ISO 5211 standardizes the interface between the rotary valve and the actuator, but the standard flange does not eliminate torque and adapter checks.
Design and operating principle of electrically operated butterfly valves
The electric motor rotates the stem and disc through a gearbox by a quarter turn. In the open position, the disc is located along the flow, in the closed position it is pressed against the seal. The actuator stops at the end position or moment, and the indicator shows the status of the assembly.
The disc shutter with an electric drive operates in on/off or modulating mode, if the kit allows it. For adjustment, check the class of operation and the number of starts.
Disc, seal and swivel mechanism
The disc and seal material is selected according to the medium and temperature. The elastomeric seat provides a tight seal within the permissible range. Metal or special seals are used in more difficult conditions. The eccentric geometry reduces friction in the stroke part and can extend the seal life.
Electric drive functions: manual override, limit switches
Manual override allows the valve to be moved in the absence of power, if this is provided for by the design and carried out according to the instructions. Limit switches confirm that positions have been reached, and torque protectors can switch off the motor if it jams. For compact rotary actuators, position indication, network control and manual override options are separately specified.
Mechanical indicator, dry contacts and analog signal are different options. For dispatching, the necessary data is set in advance.
Integration into automation systems
The electric rotary shutter can be integrated into a local cabinet, controller or distributed control system. Open/close, alarm, readiness and position commands are transmitted via discrete, analog or digital channels depending on the configuration.
IP assesses dust and water penetration according to IEC 60529. For outdoor use, cable entries, heating, temperature, and coating are also tested.
SCADA, dispatching
For SCADA, the protocol, addressing, signal list and behavior in case of loss of communication are defined. The fieldbus can transmit commands, positions, alarms and diagnostics, but only if the corresponding module is present in the drive.
The circuit, voltage, cable entries, and locking are agreed upon before ordering. Then the specialist will not have to creatively rethink the kit on site.
Buy a butterfly valve with an electric drive
To buy a butterfly valve with an electric drive, specify the DN, PN, medium, temperature, voltage, mode and control signals to the manager. UKSPAR specialists will calculate the cost of the kit taking into account materials, torque and automation.
