Flange filters
UKSPAR flanged strainer range
UKSPAR offers Y-shaped models for different media: cast iron flanged strainer Fig.F101 PN16 for water, stainless steel flanged strainer Fig.F120 PN16 and steel Fig.F110 PN25 for propane-butane.
The buyer can compare the body, DN, PN and mesh type, and the manager can check the availability and compatibility with the project. Thus, the flange filter becomes part of the system protection.
How to choose a flange filter by diameter and medium
The DN is matched to the pipeline, but the capacity is checked by the flow rate and the permissible pressure drop. The material of the housing, screen and gasket must be compatible with water, gas, steam or process fluid. For gaseous media, a design expressly approved by the manufacturer is required. Please note the following:
- environment, impurity concentration and temperature;
- working and design pressure and flow rate;
- DN, PN and flange standard;
- size of holes or mesh, mesh material;
- access for removing the cover, rinsing or blowing.
The finer the cleaning, the faster the mesh can clog and the more important the control of the drop.
Design and cleaning principle
The flow enters the housing at the arrow and passes through a perforated or woven mesh. The particles remain in the pocket, while the purified medium continues on. The cover provides access to the element; in some versions, a purge or drain connection is provided.
As dirt builds up, the pressure drop increases. Manufacturers recommend regular cleaning or blowing out of the screen, as a blocked mesh increases resistance.
Mesh and filtration degree
The degree of filtration is determined by the size of the perforations or the number of cells, but these designations should not be mixed without a table. A larger free mesh area increases throughput and reduces the net pressure drop. A smaller element retains particles better, but requires more frequent service.
A flanged screen filter is a means of mechanical pre-cleaning, not an automatic fine cleaning system. If a guaranteed fineness is required, it is specified in microns and confirmed by a passport.
Housing materials: cast iron, steel, stainless steel
The body is made of the following materials:
- Cast iron is economical for water and heating networks within the specified parameters, but is more sensitive to impacts.
- Steel is used for higher loads and special environments.
- Stainless steel is suitable for corrosive or hygienic processes if the selected grade is compatible with the environment.
The mesh is often made of stainless steel even in a cast iron housing, but this should be checked against the specification. The materials of the gasket and cover are equally important. They often set the temperature limit.
Applications of flanged strainers
Filters are installed before the pumps, regulating valve, flow meters, heat exchangers and other devices in water supply, heating, gas and technological networks. Installation is carried out according to the flow arrow and in the position provided by the manufacturer, leaving space for removing the mesh.
After the start-up of a new line, the first inspection is carried out earlier, because assembly waste quickly fills the pocket. Then the service interval is set based on the actual drop and contamination.
Buy a flange filter with delivery across Ukraine
To buy a flange filter, contact our specialists. UKSPAR will prepare an offer taking into account the material and design, because the same diameter does not make cast iron and stainless steel models equivalent.
Send the specification or line parameters and the manager will help you choose a position, specify the delivery time, and organize delivery across Ukraine.
