Condensate drain steam removes excess condensate from the pipeline system. The scope of application of the fittings is sensitive pipelines with cold and hot steam. Condensate interferes with the normal operation of the pipeline, reduces its efficiency and often causes water hammer. Condensate drains help reduce steam consumption and extend the service life of the pipeline without breakdowns. The efficiency of the system increases by an average of 20-25%. The installation location of the fittings is on the pipe immediately after the heating elements and heaters.

How the condensate trap works

The fitting separates the steam from the non-condensable working flow in different ways, depending on the type of product. Excess moisture is removed when there is free space inside the system, after which it is taken out through the hole in the case. Inside the structure there is a shutter that opens and closes automatically. Condensate is discharged periodically or continuously, depending on the system.

• thermodynamic;
• thermostatic;

Thermodynamic condensate traps

Thermodynamic products work with the help of energy generated when condensate is brought to a boiling state. The design of the armature includes a disk that rotates and covers or opens the outlet. The heated condensate, moving at a low speed, opens the disk and flows out, after which the pressure in the system drops. The steam accumulated on top, on the contrary, moves quickly and lowers the shutter into the seat until the next cycle.
Thermodynamic condensate traps are characterized by compact dimensions, lightness, high efficiency and ease of maintenance. They are not afraid of rust, freezing, vibration response and water hammer. Such products are relevant for pipelines with hot steam flowing under high pressure.

Thermostatic condensate traps

Thermostatic products work due to the difference in the temperature regime of the working environment and accumulated moisture. The working element is a capsule that forms or closes a through hole in the system, influencing the pressure element. Under normal operating parameters, steam moves freely in the system. If condensation accumulates inside, the filler in the capsule is heated, after which the protective membrane expands, the outlet channel opens and excess liquid is removed from the line.
Thermostatic products are characterized by inertia (they cool condensate before discharge), good performance, resistance to freezing, and ease of maintenance. They are suitable for systems in which not only condensate must be removed, but also excess air and extraneous gases.

Float condensate traps

Float products work due to the difference in the density of the working medium and condensate. The built-in float rises when the water level rises and lowers after it is released. Such products work continuously and remove excess liquid, the temperature of which is equal to the temperature of steam. Fittings are suitable for systems with a large working area and with increased condensate formation.
