    How to choose a threaded latch

    The choice of the correct coupling valve is determined by the technical parameters of the pipeline system:

    • Diameter (DN). The most common sizes are 1/2 to 4 inches. The diameter of the valve must exactly match the diameter of the pipe.
    • Working pressure. Most models are designed for PN16 (up to 16 bar), which is sufficient for most water supply and heating systems.
    • Medium temperature. Brass valves can withstand temperatures up to +120°C, and stainless steel valves can withstand temperatures up to +150°C.
    • Type of medium. Standard models are used for water, gas and oils, and stainless steel models are used for aggressive media.

    How is it different from flanged?

    The main difference between a threaded valve and a flanged valve is the method of connection to the pipeline. A coupling valve is screwed onto the pipe using an internal thread. This makes installation quick and does not require additional flanges, bolts or gaskets. This ensures compactness and space saving.
    At the same time, the flange connection provides greater rigidity, therefore it is used for large diameters (from DN 50) and in high-pressure systems.

    Manufacturing materials

    The bodies of threaded valves are made of materials resistant to mechanical stress and corrosion. Depending on the model, the following are used:

    • Brass. The most popular material for household systems. Brass products are resistant to corrosion, do not emit harmful impurities and have a long service life on hot and cold water supply lines.
    • Bronze. Has increased wear resistance and can withstand higher temperatures compared to brass, making it an excellent choice for steam and heating systems.
    • Stainless steel. Indispensable in the chemical, pharmaceutical and food industries, where aggressive liquids, acids or alkalis are transported, which require absolute chemical neutrality of the metal.

    The internal working unit, where the movable spindle and locking wedge are located, is also made of strong, abrasion-resistant alloys.

    Advantages for installation in confined spaces

    The threaded connection does not require additional space for flanges and bolted connections, so the valve fits compactly into limited spaces. These can be technical cabinets, basements, wiring nodes in walls, bathroom niches.
    Installation is carried out without special tools. A standard pipe wrench is enough to screw onto the thread. This also saves time on sites with frequent replacement of fittings.
